
Hiking Tips
Haut-Giffre has an incredible number of hikes, each as beautiful and majestic as the next. There’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced hiker, you’ll find your bliss close to our chalet.
Here are our favorite hikes, tested and approved just for you !

From the chalet (paths are 200 meters down on the left)
Easy and short hike:
5 km - 100 m elevation
Continue the Biolle path then regain the Champ roads to follow the Perriere stream.
Descend along the Giffre to the Blue Lake. Have a drink, enjoy a little crepe at Covagne (bar/restaurant), take a fresh dip in the lake...
Then, climb the steep path on the left of the bakery towards Bosson lane.
Along this walk, you’ll see beautiful chalets in Miaux and the Châtelard Chapel.
Longer hike :
Along the Giffre to Ladies Lake (8km), Samoëns (10km)
Alternative: return via Verchaix through the Taninges road to Samoëns, then the Crêtet road.
More difficult hike :
Old Alpage - 15km - 800 m elevation

From Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval
Short and Easy Hike
Gorges de Tines (4km - fun)
Park at Tines car park.
For more difficulty, hike to Mont village.
Rouget Waterfall Walk:
Dubbed the "Queen of the Alps," this waterfall is majestic.
Longer hike with more elevation :
End of the World - 9km - 300 m elevation
Park at Ferr à Cheval car park (paid) or Nambride car park (free), a bit further away.
More difficult hikes: from Lignon car park
Up to Anterne Refuge (13km - 800 m elevation). You can even push to the lake (16km - 1100m elevation)
Up to Sales Refuge: 12km - 700 m elevation
For these two hikes, park at Lignon car park. Both hikes offer magnificent scenery and viewpoints.
🍒 on the cake: High chance of seeing marmots and chamois on both routes.

Towards Samoëns
Short and easy hike :
Bourgeoise - 6km, 150 m elevation
Park at Joux Plane Lake car park.
Beautiful Mount Blanc view - paragliding departure.
More difficult hikes :
From Allamands car park to Bostan Refuge: 8km - 600m elevation. Excellent lunch spot but remember to book.
From Gold Mines Lake to Coux Pass: 8km - 550m elevation.
And for those seeking a deeper connection with nature, we recommend longer hikes with overnight stays in mountain refuges—offering the perfect opportunity to share even more moments of adventure and camaraderie !
